Foundation House Mathildenhöhe

Diploma Project, Darmstadt, 2010

The project deals with the reoccupation of the former Villa Christiansen site at Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt. This mansion was built for the first Art Nouveau Exhibition in 1901 and was later destroyed during World War II. As the former house played a key role in the well preserved historic ensemble, the proposed design refers to its predecessor and context in several layers, from the outer envelope to the detailed development of defined inner spaces it combines a series of references with clearly contemporary abstract spaces.
