City Museum Kassel
Awarded design for an open 2-phase competition with Gunda Schulz, 2009
The design proposes a new tower at the end of the museums side street wing, that respects the historic ensemble while forming a new building accent in the background. It contains a showroom, that can also be used as a second event entrance or educational area, two temporary exhibition spaces as well as a little café and event hall at its top. A second extension in the triangle sunken courtyard provides a new exhibition space at the basement, and offers a rooftop terrace that gives new outside qualities to the foyer and offices placed at the ground floor.
